Clinicians
Ivins Pain & Performance Clinic is staffed by a focused clinical team with advanced training and experience in complex pain presentations and performance-related limitations. Care is delivered through a considered clinical exchange grounded in evidence, clinical reasoning, and mechanism-focused assessment. Our clinicians work collaboratively to understand and address persistent presentations with clarity and depth.
Dr Kevin Ivins
Pain and Performance Clinician
MScMed (Pain Management), University of Sydney
BSc | MChiro | ICSSD | IOC Registered Practitioner
-
Dr Kevin Ivins is a senior clinician with more than 25 years of experience working at the intersection of persistent pain, human performance, and nervous system regulation. He holds a Master of Science in Medicine (Pain Management) from the University of Sydney, building on a longstanding clinical and academic engagement with contemporary pain neuroscience, autonomic dysfunction, and complex symptom presentations.
His professional background spans both clinical practice and medical education. Dr Ivins has held academic and clinical education roles at Macquarie University, including responsibilities in clinical supervision and examination. He is additionally qualified in spinal and extremity radiography, venepuncture, acupuncture, and Australian Standards–aligned drug and alcohol testing, supporting a methodical, evidence-informed, and safety-focused approach to assessment and care.
-
In private practice, Dr Ivins’ work centres on the assessment and management of both straightforward and complex presentations, with particular emphasis on persistent spinal pain and complex musculoskeletal pain states. Care is conservative and evidence-informed, integrating detailed biomechanical, orthopaedic, and neurological examination with contemporary pain science, patient education, and clinical attention to factors known to influence pain persistence, including sleep disruption, stress physiology, and functional capacity.
A core focus of Dr Ivins’ clinical work is the relationship between autonomic nervous system regulation and chronic pain. His assessments frequently explore autonomic dysfunction patterns that contribute to symptom persistence, alongside headache and cervicogenic presentations and other multisystem complaints.
In cases where symptoms are poorly explained by structural findings alone, evaluation may extend beyond standard musculoskeletal testing to include autonomic and cranial-nerve–informed assessment, supporting management strategies directed toward restoring function, optimising performance, and safe return to capacity.
-
Dr Ivins is a registered Healthcare Provider with the Australian Government's My Health Record Scheme, working in Community Pharmacy and General Practice settings.
Furthermore, Dr Ivins continues to contribute to medical education through his role as a clinical educator in the University of Sydney’s SLICE (Situated Learning in Community Environments) Program, where he supports second-year medical students undertaking community-based learning within the Faculty of Medicine and Health.
Dr Miles Prosser
Chiropractor
BSc | MChiro | Sports Medicine Level 1
-
Dr Miles Prosser is a clinician with a strong academic foundation and a developing reputation for careful assessment, technical precision, and thoughtful clinical reasoning. His work focuses on the structured evaluation of musculoskeletal and performance-related presentations, with particular attention to movement efficiency, functional capacity, and the factors that influence recovery.
Dr Prosser completed both a Bachelor of Chiropractic Science and a Master of Chiropractic, graduating with exceptional academic distinction. Throughout his postgraduate training, he achieved Dux of the Master of Chiropractic program in each year of study, reflecting consistent academic excellence. His performance was further recognised through several major awards, including the Gary Stavrou Award for Excellence in Technique and the Academic Excellence in Radiology Prize, highlighting advanced competence in both clinical skill and diagnostic interpretation.
-
His clinical work emphasises careful examination and clear identification of problems rather than routine or protocol-driven care. Presentations are approached through detailed orthopaedic, biomechanical, and neurological assessment in order to identify the drivers of symptoms and functional limitation. From this process, management strategies are developed to support recovery, movement restoration, and long-term physical resilience.
Dr Prosser also maintains a strong interest in sport and human performance. Holding a Sports Medicine Level 1 qualification, he works with active individuals and athletes seeking structured care for injury management, training continuity, and performance support. His approach emphasises restoring efficient movement patterns and supporting the physical demands on the body during training and competition.
-
Alongside clinical practice, Dr Prosser contributes to academic education as a sessional tutor in Neuroanatomy at Macquarie University, maintaining close engagement with contemporary anatomical and neurological science. This ongoing involvement in teaching reinforces a strong commitment to scientific clarity, precision in clinical thinking, and continued professional development.
Dr Prosser’s interest in musculoskeletal health is also shaped by personal experience. During adolescence, he experienced significant back problems that temporarily limited his participation in sports. His return to full activity following treatment provided early insight into the impact of thoughtful clinical care on recovery and function. This experience continues to inform a patient-centred approach grounded in empathy and practical understanding of injury and rehabilitation.
Outside the clinic, Dr Prosser maintains an active lifestyle and values time with family and friends. His professional focus remains on building long-term clinical expertise while contributing to a practice environment centred on careful assessment, considered care, and the pursuit of optimal physical function.
Working together
Dr. Kevin Ivins and Dr. Miles Prosser work within a shared clinical framework grounded in systems-based assessment, contemporary pain science, and careful clinical reasoning. Their collaboration enables consistent, in-depth, and continuous care while remaining responsive to the individual mechanisms and functional needs of each presentation.
